Knowledge Platform
This website provides a platform for knowledge on the role of the European Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) in landscape valorization and the contribution of landscape management to the rural economy gathered in the context of the FP7 Research Project CLAIM. A theoretical framework of cause-effect-linkages is substantiated by empirical evidence from 25 individual research studies gathered in 9 different regions in the EU and Turkey. These empirical studies were carried out to provide insights into the ability of landscape to contribute to the production of added value for society in rural areas.
The information on this website ranges from Theoretical elaborations and Evidence to Conclusions and Policy Recommendations and is presented on three different levels.
- The First level provides a theory background and overview on 6 topics (Policy instruments, Landscape, Second order benefits, Regional context, Actors and stakeholders and Methods).
- On the Second level a Synthesis of Ad-hoc studies is presented including information of theory on a sub-topic, evidence from the Ad-hoc studies and policy recommendations.
- Reports on all Ad-hoc studies that were carried out are presented at the Third level. The evidence from the 9 Case study areas contains besides the objective, method description and the most significant results also information related to findings how landscape can potentially affect rural economies and societies as well as the lesson learned/policy recommendations
